A couple quick hits. It's easier to give to the Jimmy fund because they're connected to the Red Sox already, while the Yankees focus on different groups with their charity aid (aka, inner city kids, not cancer cases). Plus, it's probably a good way to keep the goodwill, while getting some sweet P.R. on both sides, and stimulating the rivalry/ticket sales/TV/etc etc. I mean, it's a sweet publicity stunt for both teams.
